WHAT IS SCREENPOP?
ScreenPop is an Amiga commodity that lets you quickly switch between
open screens using a configurable hotkey or the middle mouse button.
When triggered, a small popup window appears at the mouse position
listing all open screens. Click on a screen name, or use a keyboard
number key to jump to it instantly.
REQUIREMENTS
- AmigaOS 3.0 or higher
INSTALLATION
Copy ScreenPop to any location on your system, for example
SYS:WBStartup/ to launch it automatically at boot.
To configure ScreenPop, create a text file at S:ScreenPop.cfg
CONFIGURATION
ScreenPop is configured via the text file S:ScreenPop.cfg. If this
file does not exist, ScreenPop uses its built-in defaults.
The file has two lines:
Line 1: The hotkey descriptor string (default: lamiga ')
Line 2: Middle mouse button enable/disable. Set to MMB=YES to
enable, or any other value (or omit the line) to disable.
Default is disabled.
Example S:ScreenPop.cfg:
lamiga '
MMB=YES
This configures ScreenPop with the default Left Amiga + ' hotkey and
enables middle mouse button support.
USAGE
Press the configured hotkey (default: Left Amiga + ') or the middle
mouse button (if enabled). A popup window will appear at the mouse
position listing all open screens.
You can then:
- Click a screen name with the left mouse button to switch to it
- Press 1-9 to switch to the corresponding screen
(1 = first, 2 = second, etc.)
- Press ESC or click the close gadget to dismiss the window
without switching
- Press F10 to quit ScreenPop
KNOWN INCOMPATIBILITIES
Protracker
Protracker uses the middle mouse button internally. Calling
ScreenPop using middle mouse while Protracker is frontscreen will
cause Protracker to crash. Use MMB=NO or omitline 2 from
S:ScreenPop.cfg when using Protracker. The hotkey works normally
and is unaffected.
